How To Exterminate Your Automatic Negative Thought

How To Exterminate Your Automatic Negative Thoughts

Dear Friends:

“The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah!

The ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah!”

Sometimes that’s just what it feels like in our brain when all those negative thoughts creep in. Like there’s an army of ants marching over our picnic of life. It seems like all those negative’s have a mind of their own. It feels like it, but its not!

Those little voices say things to us like, “you can’t do that”, “you’re not pretty enough”, “you’re not smart enough to get that job”, “your hair will never look like that” and “you’ll never get that job.” It gives us the impression that we’re stuck in our mind chatter and there’s no way out.

The universal Law of Attraction tells us that we attract to us what we think about, whether it’s what we want or what we don’t want. For a time we focus on better feeling words and thoughts. We do really well and feel great. Yes, at last I’ve got my ego mind where I want to be! Then along comes a stressful situation, or we’re feeling less than healthy and unknowingly negative thoughts, doubts and worry begin to “march“ in to our mind.

Here are some ideas to get those ANTs (automatic negative thoughts) away from your picnic. Begin by bringing your thoughts under examination. As you focus consciously on what you are thinking, visualize yourself with a magnifying glass gazing at the ant marching through your mind. Much of our time we think a myriad of thoughts without really becoming aware of them. It’s like our mind is on auto pilot.

Ask your brain to make you aware when this is happening. As you become aware of a negative thought, give this command to your neural kitchen:

“Whenever that little stream of negative thoughts comes marching over my picnic, bring it to my conscious awareness.”

You might want to spend some time every day making a note of your thoughts. It won’t take long before you’ll begin to catch the negative chatter more quickly.

An amazingly easy and effective tool to redirect this impulse is to shift your thinking to the opposite. How do you do this? Think an opposite thought. In the military the marching order: “about, face” turns the soldier the opposite direction. And that’s a great image to use.

The opposite of “I could never do that” pivots to: “I can do what I set my mind to.”

“I’ll never be able to learn that… pivots to “learning new things comes easily to me”

“I’m not bright enough” to “I am smart and capable.”

“I always have problems” to “I see solutions in every situation.”

“I never have enough money to pay my bills” to “I always have financial resources available.” The book Ask & It Is Given by Abraham-Hicks explains the process of pivoting.

Another technique is that of repetition. Scientific research has now proven that neurons that fire together, wire together. In other words, as we think more positive thoughts our brain emits certain neurochemicals to send that message to the body. The more often those chemicals fire, the more the neuropath way is imbedded in the brain. In addition, remember the conscious mind exerts very little control; non-conscious mind is in charge.

By repeating a statement three times a day for thirty days, two times a day for thirty days and once a day for thirty days you will have imprinted a new positive thought within your unconscious mind.

So you ask, “how long is this going to take, this rewiring of my brain?” It happens instantaneously. When you catch that negative thought and pivot to a better thought, the electrical firing of the brains’ neurons converts that message and sends the positive message.

You attract your experience. What are you attracting? You may ask what your belief system is? It is where you are right now. What are you feeling right now?

In these three straightforward and uncomplicated technique’s you will begin to create the life you desire. By your accelerated awareness, the pivoting of your thoughts to the opposite direction, and the conscious repetition of positive feelings you can make for yourself a better life.

I wish each of you a wonderful week, and a lifetime picnic that’s free of ANTs.

Love, Light and Blessings,

Donna Rae
