Newsletter Archives Past Life Regression
Scientific research reveals that our DNA, our genetics, holds within its structure the remembrance, on some level, of all that has ever occurred within our existence.
Past life regression, the recalling of hidden memories of the times we’ve lived before this lifetime is a practical way of accessing those records.
Naturally, this premise correlates only with those of us who hold the belief that our Soul has existed prior to this physical lifetime in which we now stand.
I therefore preface this newsletter with the statement that I do believe in God, I believe that God is in me and that I AM within God. I do believe that this ‘place’ of Inner Being, Source, or whatever else you choose to call the Divine, does exist. And so, with that said, I would like to discuss some interesting teachings about our past lives, from the viewpoint that such past experiences are a part of me.
Common within ancient esoteric teachings was the knowledge that we, our Soul and/or Spirit, lives forever. Who we really are, our physical package changes from lifetime to lifetime yet our Soul remains constant.
There are certain techniques and skills that allow us to recall times we have lived before this lifetime. Teachers such as Sylvia Browne, and Dr. Brian Weiss have written much about past life regression. Dr. Weiss’ book “Many Lives, Many Masters” is an excellent place to start. He explains that in his psychiatry practice how he came to believe and see for himself that past lives do exist.
From my earliest memories I recall being afraid of heights. One of the most vivid is when I was 6 or 7 years old; my parents took me to Astoria, Oregon where we climbed the Astoria Column. All my life I have never forgotten that day.
It wasn’t so scary going up the spiraling metal open staircase as long as I didn’t look down. My small, sweaty, clammy hands grasped the railing in a white-knuckle grip.
Occasionally I’d have to let go of one hand to let a descending tourist pass by. My Dad and I arrived at the top where there’s an observation deck, with an amazing view of the surrounding vistas, the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean. I recall my Dad saying: “Donna Rae, let’s go look out over the railing.” As I innocently did so, I’ll never forget the sheer terror of that moment. My parents said that I ran to the concrete center of the column, hugged it, facing it, as if my life depended on it.
I attended a conference at Sylvia Browne’s Spiritus Novus church, part of which training was past life regression. In that meditation session I went to a previous lifetime when I clearly saw myself as a young woman in the South Pacific Islands. This experience was surreal and dreamlike in its recall. I saw myself standing at the edge of a cliff, on an island, the vast ocean before me. Standing at this precipice I saw that I jumped into the ocean several hundred feet below me.
I chose to commit this act; no one was with me, I wasn’t being chased by enemies.
I felt that it was my choice, not of desperation or fear, rather a choice made from love, perhaps to join a lover no longer of the earthly plane. The peace that came over me dissolved me into tears of release and liberation. I was changed forever, in more ways than I could ever imagine.
Driving home from Seattle crossing bridges and canyons, I was at peace and harmony and felt absolutely no fear. Until then I gripped the steering wheel, refusing to look over the sides of the car, canyons, bridges, or anything that felt too high for me. (which was most everything!) The excitement I experienced was thrilling and joyful. What an unexpected healing I had received that day. I now cross any high places with ease and comfort. I’ve looked over the sides of dams, edges of waterfalls, high cliffs in the mountains, and even stood at the edge of the viewing platform at Niagara Falls!
Hypnosis and meditation are the most common ways to access a past life. There’s a lot of preconceived notions about hypnosis; it’s really just a form of meditation. Meditation is a state of relaxed concentration and completely normal. This is the technique I use in my practice. The person is always in control of the meditation and can choose to opt out at any time, simply by opening your eyes.
The meditation is very simple, relaxing and non-threatening. A person may choose to search out a past life related to a specific condition in this life, regress during this lifetime to early childhood scenes or even birth, continuing back before physical birth. Oftentimes during healing sessions a past life situation will arise for my clients. It is always healing and therapeutic for them.
“The benefits of regression therapy extend far beyond the clearing of symptoms. Often, the result is healing at all levels.” …Mirrors of Time, Dr. Brian Weiss
“You are much, much more than your body or your mind.
You are a beautiful being,
Immortal, eternal, full of love and light.”
---Brian Weiss, M.D.
