MENTAL FITNESS
I'm a football fan. As a kid I was raised on football, my parents loved the game and as a little girl I could be heard at the college games yelling right along with the cheerleaders. I married a diehard football fan and so I've had a thing about football all my life.
This past week-end while watching our favorite teams I was given a gigantic message. Oh, by the way, my team won-his lost! The commentators were talking about various teams and their chances for winning. Observations like "Are they mentally tough?" "Do they have what it takes mentally to with this game?" and "Are they up to the mental challenge today's match-up brings?"
These great big guys, in their prime condition physically, youthful, at their peak endurance levels, are well trained by the best in the country. You can tell by looking at them they're ready to play and give the game their all. What seized my attention was the word mental. Are they ready mentally to defeat their opponents and win? In other words, do they believe and see themselves winning?
For me this is a life-altering message from the Universe. Are we all mentally ready to change our lives? Are the skills to mentally shift our awareness within our reach?
For some of my clients, overcoming limiting physical conditions is a struggle. In offering encouragement and words of assistance in their return to health, we often talk about our thoughts. Thoughts are things. What we think we become-whether it's what we want or what we do not want. That's a fact, a Universal Law. This Law is no less powerful that the Law of Gravitation. All Universal Law's always are, never change, never diminish and certainly never go away!
I'm sitting in my chair cheering on my team when the realization hits me like a "bolt of lightning". As we go through life with the beliefs and laws that we have learned, and take as our truth, are we ready mentally to live the life we desire? I don't believe we are.
To pretend to be well and feel great in the face of our perceived "reality" of pain, doctor's diagnosis, or bombardment from advertising, takes great mental stamina.
There is scientific data that proves when you monitor an athlete's brain and have them mentally, in their mind-thoughts compete in an event, the very same endorphins and hormones are released as those when they physically perform the event. That's big stuff!
So it makes sense that as we think about certain situations, events and beliefs our brain is releasing the same chemicals as when that situation is actually performed physically.
Examine your thoughts about situations and events that you are resistant to. What in your life do you want to change? What circumstances no longer serve you or your highest good? Assessing your desires can bring focus to areas of health, finance, relationships, your home, work, and travel, spiritual and special intentions. Enjoy the process!
Have a fantastic, fun week!
Namaste,
