Newsletter Archives An Open Door
Dear Friends:
There’s a saying that goes something like this: “When one door closes, another one opens up for us.”
The inference is that when a situation just doesn’t seem to be working any more, it’s time to let it go and move on. That sounds simple and make’s perfect sense, most of the time. However, there are situations in real life that are more that just a matter of closing the door and opening another one.
How do you know when that door is really ‘shut’ for good? This is a common situation we all have reservations about. Whether in the workplace or in a personal relationship there comes a time when things just don’t feel right. Maybe we get passed over for that promotion, or aren’t chosen for a new research project. Deciding whether to stay in the same cubby-holed work space, ask for a transfer to another department, or look for another job can be perplexing.
One of the most important aspects of choosing when to move forward is listening to our intuition. Instinct is an integral part of our human survival. Rarely do we use instinct to hunt for our food, yet it’s vital to many other aspects. Intuition and emotional guidance are key to most choices we make. Begin to listen to that gut feeling, the seeming random catch phrases, music, book titles and topics of conversation surrounding you. It’s natural to feel disappointed and apprehensive when these changes arise.
When looking for that new door to open, how do you know which one to choose? Quite simply, begin by asking yourself how it feels to you. Using the example of your job, when you think of a different occupation, do you feel excitement, anticipation and eagerness? If you’re already in a field that you love, perhaps a change is not the answer. Maybe it’s time for you to add to your resume by going back to school, or volunteering to help with something you really love. My life has shifted from an interest in natural healing and a casual exploring Reiki to a full time Reiki healing practice. That in turn has led me to other aspects of natural healing on all levels; spiritual, emotional and mental.
What if the door is locked, or is the door handle just stuck? This sounds humorous and yet many times we do wonder if we’ve got the right door, or if we’re just not turning the handle in the right direction. You’ll soon discover the answer because things just don’t seem to work out. A common lesson I’ve learned came early in my married life. We wanted to buy our first home but we were just starting my husband’s chiropractic office. We found the perfect small house, and were so excited at the prospect of finally having our own place. But things just didn’t work out. The realtor dragged her feet, the financing seemed to change daily and we eventually missed out on the sale.
Disappointed, we kept looking. A few months later a really great deal on a brand new home came to us, financing was easy and we sailed through the entire process. I’d say the door was jammed on the first deal.
What if someone else has already opened the door? Can I still come in?
Is there room for more than ‘one of us’? Absolutely! The answer is yes, yes and yes. As we make the decision to let go of that closed door, no matter in what area of our life, a new one will open up. And it doesn’t matter if others are there or not. There’s plenty of room for more energy, more love, and greater expansion. Besides, when we set our intent and create our desire, we do attract abundance, and situations leading us to our goals. Moreover, when we associate with those who are like-minded, successful and growth-oriented we will grow too.
The next time you’re faced with a closed door, remember to take your time, allow yourself to recover, and be sure to let go of that closed door. As you search for the new door to your future, so you shall find it. That is one of the universal Laws of Attraction.
Love, Light and Blessings,
Donna Rae
